Actions

«Identificar las necesidades de las empresas españolas para abordar la biodiversidad en las evaluaciones de capital natural»

The first action of the Natural Capital Factory was this workshop on “Identifying Spanish businesses and organisations needs about how to address biodiversity within natural capital assessments”. During this session, both facilitators and attendees addressed the difficulties that Spanish companies and organisations encounter when incorporating biodiversity into natural capital assessments.

Outcomes were  delivered to the Natural Capital Coalition (now know as Capitals Coalition after its merger with the Social and Human Capitals Coalition) and the Cambridge Conservation Initiative (CCI)  – a focal point in the field of biodiversity research and advice of the Coalition-, who lead the project which is supported  by the European Commission and aimed at to strengthen the presence of biological diversity in natural capital assessments.

Presentación en España de Conectando las finanzas y el capital natural: Un suplemento del Protocolo del Capital Natural

Bankinter organised in its HQ in madrid in September 2018 the launch in Spain of the Finance Sector Supplement to the Natural Capital Protocol: Connecting Finance and Natural Capital: A Supplement to the Natural Capital Protocol (Conectando las finanzas y el capital natural: Un suplemento del Protocolo del Capital Natural).

The document results from the collaboration between the Natural Capital Coalition, the Natural Capital Finance Alliance (NCFA) and VBDO (Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development). It has been developed against the backdrop of growing acknowledgment that natural capital and its benefits underpin prosperous economies and societies.

The document provides a framework for financial institutions (FIs) to assess the natural capital impacts and dependencies of their investments and portfolios.

The launch of this guidance has been supported by a series of case studies from leading FIs including: ASN Bank, Bankinter, BNP Paribas Assets Management, Kepler Chevreux, Piraeus Bank and YES Bank.
