Forests and the financial sector: allies in the action towards a nature-positive world

As part of the European Interreg COMFOR SUDOE project and the Natural Capital and Forestry Sector Working Group of the Natural Capital Factory, the event “Forests and the financial sector: allies in the action towards a nature-positive world”took place yesterday, organized by Ecoacsa Reserva de Biodiversidad, the National Museum of Natural Sciences of the Spanish National Research Council (MNCN-CSIC), and the Association of Forest Engineers, with the collaboration of the Official College of Forest Engineers of Madrid, the Natural Capital Foundation, and the Institute of Engineering of Spain. 

The event was aimed at land managers, forest owners, and companies linked to forest land management, both in the public and private sectors, financial sector professionals and the investor community, and other business experts interested in understanding the opportunities arising from the synergies between the forestry and financial sectors in the challenge of advancing towards a nature-positive world. 

Objectives 

  • Address and deepen the understanding of the value provided by complex forests based on the ecosystem services they generate and the opportunities derived from their promotion and sustainable management, in ecological and financial terms. 
  • Understand the implications and opportunities for the forestry and financial sectors arising from the implementation of the new Global Biodiversity Framework and the exploitation of synergies. 
  • Show practical examples of how the forestry, financial, and investment sectors are working to support the paradigm shift towards a nature-positive world.
